Daily Research Report For FYPJ @ 25 May 2011

Was busy taking the final demo video for 3times, as the previous 2 times failed to save. Was editing the videos as well.
Managed to get a chance to implement the ESXi host onto a real physical blade server, and uses the vSphere client to access into it. It is an great experience that i'm able to test it out on a physical hardware.
But sadly, the 64-bit OS could not be installed into the inner ESXi host.

Preparing for the final presentation, E-learning materials and hands-on material and everything were done, and was prepared for it. Despite that the individual makers still do not understand our project, but at least we got the program running.

Done video making and presentation slides for final presentation. Tried configured the virtualization using real phsyical blade server in school world skill labs. Tried the network diagram on the nested ESXi and able to install 32-bits system OS in the inner ESXi host but due to some errors encounted, we not able to install 64-bit OS into the inner ESXi host. We will be doing our report on the next coming two days before the FYPJ ended.

Daily Research Report For FYPJ @ 16 May 2011

Previous days, we were focusing on doing the lab sheets for the vCenter, which i have managed to solve the problems and got them running.
Now the vSphere client could access the ESXi Host Server and install virtual machines, it can also access the vCenter to monitor multi ESXi "Box". But currently i only have 1 ESXi Host Server and 1 VM running in it.

Was discussion on our progress, and finalizing the documents and things that we need to do.
i'm going to take down the setup of the software in video on wednesday.

Daily Research Report For FYPJ @ 9 May 2011

i brought my laptop to school today, tryng to test the vSphere Client and the ESXi Host Server. As the school's PC had some technical problems, i decided that the only way to implement it is to use it on my personal laptop.

I configured both into the same network, which enables them to be able to ping each other, so at least at this point both machines are working.
But the problems will be creating a new virtual machine in the EXSi.
i am still unable to locate and install the iso. to boot the created VM in the ESXi.

hopefully can research some information about this error online.

Edited and standardized the format of those completed lab practicals which is:

Installation of VMware ESXi
Configuration of VMware ESXi
Installation of vCenter
Installation of Window Server 2008

There's still one more lab practical which is Configuration for vSphere Client as problem occured during the installation and solutions are still finding.

Meanwhile continue to find some of the research on the Discussion labs.

Daily Research Report For FYPJ @ 4 May 2011

Tried to connect vSphere Client in the VMware on my laptop to the ESXi host server in the Vmware, the client could not connect to the host, so i ping the Windows Server 2008 to the Host Server, as expected the host could not be reached, so i decided to stop doing on my laptop and try it on the physical hardware next time.

Was told to create the diagram with the vCenter and 2 ESXi Host, completed it using powerpoint.
I went on to help kin leong in finding " How vBlock works ", discussed with him with the information from the internet and managed to complete it also.

Daily Report on Reseach for FYPJ: 04/05/11

The vSphere Client has been successfully installed into the Windows Server 2008 using the VMware in my laptop. And i have recorded down the steps with screenshots into a word document.
I have also tested the vSphere Client by accessing the vCenter through the Client. But i did not add the ESXi host, would try it using the physical machine.
